NEW! Parent/Student Conferences

We are pleased to announce our next step in our ongoing attempt to improve our communication with our students and their family. Our first attempt was the implementation of the progress reports and it was a step in the right direction but did not satisfy what we had envisioned for quality communication. Our solution is to set up parent/student conferences with Sensei. We will systematically contact each student to try and schedule a private meeting with Sensei to discuss any questions or concerns you may have as well as provide feedback on the student's progression, set goals, etc. If you are at any time interested in scheduling a conference with Sensei, please do not hesitate to contact our office via e-mail or call us at 471-3418.

Congratulations to those promoted at last test!

Congratulations to those adults recently promoted to their next rank. Overall, this one one of the strongest testing performances I have seen in quite a while. Great job and keep up the hard work.
Also, congatulations to those students who recently past their pre-test and were invited to test in September. Keep up the hard work and be sure to prepare with "Perfect Practice". Also, be sure to prepare for the strength and character trait testing to occur in class prior to your testing week!

New Class Schedule Starts in September

A revised class schedule starting on September 15th, is available at the front desk. The only class effected by the updated schedule is the Child Puple/White - Purple belt class. Also, you can check the USKS website calander for more information.

AVILA BEACH DEMO CANCELLED

The demonstration planned for the Friday evening Avila Beach Farmers Market has been CANCELLED. We just learned of the cancellation Thursday afternoon. We are sorry for the late notice. We will still be performing Saturday at the USKS Open House. We will see you in your demo uniforms on Saturday!

Beach Training was a blast!

Thanks to all those students and families who made the trip to Santa Cruz for the annual USKS Beach Training. It was great to see such great dedication and a desire to experience a different kind of training. Remember to practice the new techniques and skills you learned! Also, like Shihan Krupa said at the conclusion of the beach training, we hope you will appreciate the amount of knowledge and experience that the several dedicated Sensei's shared with you. Many of the higher ranking Sensei's have been training at USKS for over 20 years (and trained along side me) and bring with them a diverse knowledge of the martial arts including disciplines such as Karate, Judo, Aikido, Jujitsu & Jiu Jitsu, Kung Fu, Taekwondo, Kobudo, Muay Thai, Iado, and MMA. It really is a great treat to have them all together at the same time to share their extensive knowledge with the students.

Beach Training in Santa Cruz

Mark your calendars for the annual USKS beach training on the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. This is an event you won't want to miss. Training starts at 8:30 a.m. on the Beach in front of the boardwalk. After the training is over, spend a family day with us playing on the beach and the boardwalk.
Because we have such a large group we are able to get discount ride passes. Sign up and make your payment at the front desk (cash only) by June 26th to receive your $22 ride passes after the training is over. (Sorry, this year discounted parking passes didn't work out...maybe next year).
Make sure you remember to bring:
Full Gi and Belt, Swimsuit (wear under your gi pants), sunscreen, beach gear like chairs, blanket, munchies etc., and a bag to put your sandy, wet gi into when you are done with the training.
